Janitorial & Caretaker Relief Services

Even the best-run building needs coverage from time to time. Vacations, illness and unexpected absences can leave a gap in service — and in a residential building, that gap can become noticeable very quickly.

Servus® Janitorial Management provides temporary relief coverage for both janitors and building caretakers, helping keep your building operating smoothly until your regular team member returns.

Coverage That Fits Your Building

Our relief team can step into an existing janitorial or caretaker role and work from your building’s established scope, routines and priorities. For janitorial coverage, that means maintaining the regular cleaning program. For caretaker coverage, it can also include day-to-day building support such as coordinating trades, elevator bookings, fob programming, light bulb replacement, supply management and reporting building deficiencies.

More Than Just Filling a Shift

Relief coverage works best when there is a system behind it. Servus® uses management systems for attendance, field reporting, photos, inspections and communication so temporary coverage can still be monitored and managed.

Whether you need coverage for a few days or a longer absence, the goal is simple: keep the building clean, supported and running without disruption.

Relief coverage can include:

  • Janitorial relief
  • Building caretaker relief
  • Vacation coverage
  • Illness or extended leave coverage
  • Short-term temporary staffing
  • Coverage while a permanent replacement is being arranged

How Relief Coverage Works

Notice We Need

  • Planned coverage — two weeks’ notice where possible; five business days is usually enough to staff and brief the shift.
  • Short notice — same-day or next-day coverage where staffing allows. Call rather than email so we can respond immediately.
  • Extended coverage — for anything beyond two weeks we assign a named relief team member, so your building sees the same person throughout.

What We Need From You

  • Access — keys, fobs and alarm codes, with the procedure for each
  • The current task list and shift schedule
  • Site-specific notes — problem areas, tenant sensitivities, garbage and recycling days
  • A site contact we can reach during the shift

Relief coverage is available to buildings already on a Servus® janitorial program and to buildings with their own in-house caretaker.

The Servus® CleanCycle™ System

Relief team members work to the same system as your permanent staff — the same site-specific scope, the same digital checklists and time-stamped photo reporting, the same virtual supervision and scored inspections.

The Servus® Cleaning Standard

Before a relief shift is closed out, the building should have:

  • No visible streaks, smears or residue
  • No visible dust on horizontal surfaces
  • Corners, edges and detail areas cleaned
  • A consistent vacuum appearance, with debris removed
  • No excessive chemical odours
  • Supplies stocked and organized
  • Equipment cleaned and properly stored
  • The digital checklist, time-stamped photos and reporting completed
